The Application of Direct Reading Activity Assisted by Reading Corner to Improve Reading Interest of Fifth Grade Students at Sukosari 01 Public Elementary School in Madiun Regency. Thesis. Supervisor I: Dr. Jeffry Handhika, M.Pd, Supervisor II: Dwi Rosita Sari, PhD Keywords: Direct Reading Activity, Reading Corner, Reading Interest This study aims to: (1) Describe the application of the Direct Reading Activity (DRA) model assisted by a reading corner in the reading activities of fifth-grade students at Sukosari 01 Public Elementary School in Madiun Regency; (2) Increase the reading interest of fifth-grade students at Sukosari 01 Public Elementary School in Madiun Regency through the application of the Direct Reading Activity (DRA) model assisted by a reading corner. This research is classroom action research. The stages of this research were arranged starting from the pre-cycle stage, cycle I, to cycle II. The research subjects were all fifth-grade students at Sukosari 01 Public Elementary School in Madiun Regency. The results of the study show that: (1) The implementation of DRA assisted by a reading corner succeeded in improving the quality of the students' reading process, which was initially passive, to become more active, focused, and participatory; (2) This study also proves that the application of the Direct Reading Activity (DRA) model assisted by a reading corner is effective in significantly increasing the reading interest of fifth-grade students.
