Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Describe the personality of the character Lintang in Leila S. Chudori's novel Pulang, analyzed through Carl Gustav Jung's psychoanalytical approach; (2) Describe the internal conflicts, motivations, and psychological dynamics of the character Lintang as reflected in his behavior and attitude throughout the story; (3) Describe the character values contained in the character Lintang in Leila S. Chudori's novel Pulang. The research method used in this study is discourse analysis. The data analysis used in this study is a literature study. The results of the study show that: (1) Based on the analysis of Lintang's personality through Carl Gustav Jung's psychoanalytical approach, it was found that the character's personality structure consists of persona, ego, shadow, animus, and self, which interact with each other to form the character's behavior and actions; (2) The results of the analysis of Lintang's internal conflicts, motivations, and psychological dynamics show that the character's behavior and attitude are greatly influenced by the interaction between internal conflicts, personal goals, and social values that he believes in; (3) Analysis of Lintang's character values in the novel Pulang shows that the character internalizes various positive values, such as honesty, responsibility, resilience, empathy, discipline, perseverance, reflectiveness, and wisdom, which are reflected in his behavior and attitudes throughout the story.
