Abstract

ABSTRACT Diah Ayu Pramesty. 2025. Improving Students’ Understanding of the Intrinsic Elements of Fable Stories through the Use of Audio-Visual Media in Grade V of SDN 04 Manisrejo. Undergraduate Thesis. Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors: (I) Dr. Endang Sri Maruti, M.Pd., (II) Vivi Rulviana, M.Pd. This classroom action research was conducted with the aim of improving students’ understanding of the intrinsic elements in fable stories through the use of ADEF audio-visual media for fifth-grade students of SDN 04 Manisrejo in the 2025/2026 academic year. The research was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 30 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, as well as learning outcome tests to measure the improvement in students’ understanding of the intrinsic elements of stories. The results of the study showed an improvement in both the quality of the learning process and student learning outcomes after the implementation of ADEF media. Teacher activity in Cycle I reached 85% and increased to 92.5% in Cycle II. Student activity also improved from 71.87% in Cycle I to 87.5% in Cycle II. A significant increase was also observed in the level of learning mastery. In Cycle I, the percentage of mastery was only 43.33% with an average score of 70.33, which then increased to 86.67% with an average score of 84.33 in Cycle II, thus meeting the classical mastery criterion of ≥ 75%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of ADEF media is effective in improving students’ understanding of the intrinsic elements of fable stories in Grade V of SDN 04 Manisrejo. This media creates a more engaging, interactive, and easily understood learning environment, making it a viable alternative instructional medium for teaching Bahasa Indonesia at the primary school level.
