Abstract

This study aims to uncover the forms, causes, and impacts of the inner conflict experienced by the youngest child in Hidya Hanin's novel "Untukmu, Anak Bungsu: Si Ahli Memendam Luka" (For You, the Youngest Child: The Expert in Keeping Wounds). The inner conflict was analyzed using literary psychology theory. The research method used was descriptive qualitative. The results indicate that the inner conflict arises from the accumulation of various internal and external factors. The inner conflict experienced by the youngest child includes conflicts between desires and reality, fears, feelings, identity, and family responsibilities. Factors causing the inner conflict include parenting styles, lack of communication, social pressure, and personality. The impact of the inner conflict on the character of the youngest child is evident in withdrawn behavior, low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence, negative thought patterns, emotional instability, and the development of a stronger character and independence. This study confirms that the novel successfully presents an authentic representation of the psychological struggles of the youngest child, who is considered "strong" but actually harbors deep emotional wounds.
