Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the use of cartoon strip media can improve the descriptive writing skills of fourth grade students of SDN 3 Banaran, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SDN 3 Banaran, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency in learning to write descriptions using cartoon strip media. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the use of cartoon strip media in learning Indonesian can improve the descriptive writing skills of fourth grade students of SDN 3 Banaran, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency. This is evident from the increase in teacher teaching activities in the first cycle and the sufficient category and the second cycle with the good category. While student learning activities from the first cycle with the sufficient category increased to the second cycle with the good category, and (2) the learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SDN 3 Banaran, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency in learning to write descriptions using cartoon strip media increased. In cycle I, the percentage of classical completeness was 60% with an average value of 68.25. The number of students who completed the course was 24 people and 16 people who did not complete it. In cycle II, the results of students' descriptive writing learning have reached the predetermined success indicator, which is 80%. The percentage of classical completion is 82.5% with an average score of 81.25. The number of students who completed the course was 33 students and 7 students who did not complete it. From the recapitulation of the descriptive writing skills test scores at the end of the cycle, there were 39 students whose scores increased, 7 students who did not complete it and 1 student whose score remained the same and completed it.
