Abstract

Indun Krisdianto, 2025. Efforts to Increase the Activeness and Learning Outcomes of Science Through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Learning Model for Grade III Students of SD Negeri 02 Nambangan Lor, Madiun City. Master of Social Science Education Study Program, Postgraduate School, PGRI Madiun University. Supervisor (1) Dr. Sudarmiani, M.Pd. Supervisor (2) Dr. Nurhadji Nugraha, S.Pd, M.M. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Activeness, Learning Outcomes, Science, Classroom Action Research.. The purpose of this study was to improve the activeness and learning outcomes of third-grade students of SDN 02 Nambangan Lor, Madiun City in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) by implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The approach used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR) using a qualitative approach conducted in two cycles. Planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection were components included in each cycle. There were 29 students who became the subjects of the study. Learning outcome tests, documentation, student activities, and teacher observations assisted in data collection. By comparing the scores from the pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II, quantitative descriptive analysis was conducted to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that PBL can significantly improve student learning outcomes. Only 7 students (24.1%) were active and 10 students (34.7%) achieved learning outcomes above the KKTP in learning activities during the pre-cycle. In the first cycle, the number of active students increased to 14 students (48.27%), and students who achieved learning outcomes above the KKTP also increased to 16 students (55.2%). In the second cycle, the number of active students increased again to 24 students (82.76%), and those who achieved learning outcomes above the KKTP increased to 27 students (93.1%). This increase is supported by the PBL learning model which makes the remainder the center of learning. Based on the research results and discussion, it can be concluded that the implementation of the PBL model can improve the science learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDN 02 Nambangan Lor, Madiun City. This PBL model not only improves students' cognitive abilities, but also improves students' ability to think critically and collaborate, as well as increasing students' active involvement in the learning process
