ABSTRACT Nurcholis, Muhamad Dian. 2025. Improving Fluent Reading Skills Through Illustrated Storytelling Media in Grade 3 Students of SDN Bandungrejo I, Ngasem District, Bojonegoro Regency. Thesis. Indonesian Master of Language and Literature Education Study Program, Post Graduate Program Universitas PGRI Madiun. Pembimbing (I) Prof. Dr. Bambang Eko Hari Cahyono, M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Muhammad Binur Huda, M.Pd. Keywords: reading fluency, picture story media, classroom action research. This study aims to improve the reading fluency skills of third-grade students at SDN Bandungrejo I, Ngasem District, Bojonegoro Regency through the use of picture story media. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 15 third-grade students. The research instruments included teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, reading fluency tests, and documentation. The indicators of reading fluency observed were pronunciation accuracy, reading fluency, intonation accuracy, and voice clarity. Data analysis techniques were carried out using descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed that the use of picture story media improved both the learning process and students’ reading fluency skills. In the pre-cycle stage, students’ learning achievement was still low. After the implementation of actions in Cycle I, students’ reading fluency improved but had not yet met the success indicators. In Cycle II, students’ reading fluency improved significantly, as indicated by the increased class average score and learning mastery percentage exceeding 80%. ABSTRACT Nurcholis, Muhamad Dian. 2025.
