Abstract
Early childhood abilities that need to be developed include several aspects, namely cognitive, language, physical-motor, socio-emotional, and moral development. The cognitive aspect is related to the level of intelligence that enables individuals to develop interest in ideas, concepts, and active learning. The traditional congklak game is a type of play that requires patience and perseverance from children. One of the functions of children’s games is to introduce basic numeracy skills. The congklak game trains children to become more fluent in counting. The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of the traditional congklak game in improving cognitive numeracy skills and socio-emotional development of Group B students at TK Kartika IV-21 Madiun City. This study employed classroom action research (CAR). The population consisted of 16 students. The research was conducted through a pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The results showed that the implementation of the traditional congklak game was able to improve students’ cognitive numeracy skills in Group B at TK Kartika IV-21 Madiun City. Based on the implementation of the cycles, the class average achievement in cognitive numeracy skills during the pre-cycle stage showed that only 32% of students achieved mastery learning. This increased to 58% in Cycle I and reached 86% mastery learning in Cycle II.
