ABSTRAC Esy Nurhandayani. 2025. Improving Simple Sentence Writing Skills through Picture Media for Grade III Students of SDN 5 Selur, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency. Thesis. Master Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Postgraduate School of PGRI Madiun University. Supervisors (I) Dr. Dwi Setyadi, M.M.; (II) Dr. Agung Nasrulloh Saputro, M.Pd. Keywords: Writing Skills, Simple Sentences, Picture Media, Classroom Action Research. This study aims to describe the improvement of simple sentence writing skills in Indonesian language subjects through the use of picture media in grade III students of SD Negeri 5 Selur, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency. The low writing skills of students in the initial condition were indicated by only 33.33% of students achieving the KKM (70). This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 12 students. Data collection techniques included observation, testing, and documentation, with qualitative data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed an increase in student learning completeness from 33.33% in the pre-test to 50.00% in cycle I, and a significant increase to 83.33% in cycle II. The use of attractive image media, the picture and picture cooperative method, and intensive teacher guidance were proven to be effective in increasing students' interest, motivation, and ability to construct sentences according to the correct structure.
