Keywords: writing, free poetry, media, and natural media around the school This study aims to describe (1) the application of natural media around the school can improve the learning of writing free poetry of students of Class V D Negeri 2 Sidokare, Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of students of Class V D Negeri 2 Sidokare, Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency in learning to write free poetry using natural media around the school. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the application of natural media around the school can improve the learning of writing free poetry of students of Class V D Negeri 2 Sidokare, Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency. This is evidenced by the behavior of students in class during learning activities using natural media around the school, which is apparently able to change student behavior along with the increase in students' ability to write free poetry. Student activity in providing responses and answering questions from the teacher in stage 1 of cycle I is still low due to lack of confidence and lack of understanding of the material taught by the teacher. While in cycle II in terms of student activity in providing responses to learning materials is quite good with a very good category. Students who answered questions from the teacher well were also very active in doing the assignments that had been given, and (2) the results of learning to write free poetry using natural media around the school experienced an increase. The increase in each cycle can be seen from the average value of students which increased from cycle I by 64.2% in the sufficient category and cycle II by 90.6% in the very good category. The results from the test cycle I to cycle II experienced an increase of 26.2%.
