ABSTRACT Yeni Rahmawati. 2025. Improving Storytelling Skills Using the Cooperative Model of Paired Storytelling Technique for Grade VI Students of SDN 5 Ngetos, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency. Theses. Indonesian Master of Language and Literature Education Study Program, Post Graduate Program, Universitas PGRI Madiun, Advisor (I) Prof. Dr. Bambang Eko Hari Cahyono,M.Pd; (II) Dr. Muh. Waskito Ardhi, S.Pd., M.Pd . Keywords: storytelling, cooperative, and paired storytelling This study aims to describe and explain (1) the use of the cooperative model of paired storytelling technique can improve the speaking skills of grade VI students of SDN 5 Ngetos, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency, and (2) student learning outcomes in learning speaking skills using the cooperative model of paired storytelling technique of grade VI students of SDN 5 Ngetos, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the application of cooperative paired storytelling can improve students' storytelling skills in learning Indonesian, especially in descriptive essay material in grade VI of SDN 5 Ngetos, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency. The most dominant teacher activity is observing student activities and guiding students in the teaching and learning process if there are obstacles. Teacher activity in cycle I is 3.33%. Student activities are listening, paying attention, and relating lessons to everyday life, student activities in cycle I are 3.58%. Meanwhile, in cycle II, there was an increase in teacher activity of 3.91% while student activity also increased by 3.90% in Indonesian language learning activities on speaking material which reflected the implementation of cooperative learning using paired storytelling techniques. Student responses in understanding narrative and descriptive essay materials using the cooperative paired storytelling application were 97.1%, and (2) student learning outcomes in cycle 1 were 26 students achieving individual completion with a percentage of 74.28%. In cycle II, students were also tested by telling stories about their experiences that were adjusted to the indicators. From the test results, almost all students completed 91.42%.
