Keywords: learning, thematic, critical thinking, and HOTS This research aims to describe (1) the application of thematic learning to develop critical thinking for Class VI students at SDN 7 Klodan, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency and (2) the application of HOTS-based learning for the development of critical thinking for Class VI students at SDN 7 Klodan, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency. The research approach used in this research is qualitative research. This type of research uses field research. The results of this research are (1) the development of critical thinking of class VI students at SDN 7 Klodan, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency, carried out through the planning, implementation and evaluation stages. Student learning outcomes are in accordance with the criteria for successful achievement of the learning objectives to be achieved, and (2) The application of HOTS-based learning to develop critical thinking for class VI students at SDN 7 Klodan, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency includes assessments carried out on students' thinking abilities that are not just about memorizing, remembering and restating the knowledge possessed but rather interpreting, solving problems, analyzing, giving arguments or opinions and making the right decisions.
