Abstract
This study aims to provide empirical evidence of the effect of CSR performance towards stock returns, with capital structure as a moderating variable. This study used a quantitative approach with a repeated cross-sectional method, where data was collected from different companies each year during the study period. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from annual reports and sustainability reports. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling with predetermined criteria. The analytical techniques used were multiple regression analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of this study indicate that CSR performance has no effect towards stock returns, the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) has a negative effect towards stock returns, and the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) as a moderating variable strengthens the effect of CSR performance towards stock returns in a negative direction.
