Abstract

This study examined the character education values presented in the animated film Rise of the Guardians. The research was conducted in response to ongoing concerns regarding the ineffectiveness of character education implementation in Indonesian schools. The purpose of this study was to identify the types of character values illustrated in the film and analyze how these values were conveyed through the characters and scenes. A qualitative descriptive method was employed using content analysis, with a theoretical framework based on El Mubarok’s classification of character values divided into Values of Being and Values of Giving and Lickona’s theory of moral development. The primary data were collected from the film’s dialogue and visual scenes, focusing on the moral growth of the main character, Jack Frost. The result revealed 27 character values, including honesty, bravery, respect, selflessness, and justice. These values were represented through verbal expression and character actions, demonstrating the film’s potential as an effective medium for character education. The study concluded that Rise of the Guardians provides rich moral content that can support value-based learning, especially when integrated into educational settings.
