Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe how the implementation of language politeness strategies, and how the violation of language in the fifth grade students of SD Negeri I Totokan Mlarak Ponorogo. Language politeness needs to be considered especially in elementary school students. Communication ethics need to be considered so that there is no prejudice that can cause a negative impact on others. For example, each student should not utter words that are less pleasant to hear that can make others feel offended. Thus, communication ethics plays an important role in education. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The approach used in this study is a pragmatic approach. A pragmatic approach is one that is based on the reaction or response of the interlocutor. The Data in this study are strategies and violations in communication sentences of Class V students which include the application and violation of language politeness strategies. The data taken is limited to the communication of learning activities which become the object of research activities. The source of data in this study is the communication between students and teachers, parents with teachers, and students with students of Class V The results of this study the application of language politeness strategies between students and teachers as many as 37 conversations or 66.1% while violations as many as 19 conversations or 33.9%. Means here communication is still using the strategy of politeness in the language quite well. The implementation of the language politeness strategy between parents and teachers was 58 conversations or 84.1%, while violations were 11 conversations or 15.9%. Means here communication is still using the strategy of politeness speak well. The implementation of the strategy of language politeness between students and students was 42 conversations or 100% while violations were 0%. Means here communication is still using the strategy of politeness in language very well.
