Abstract

Language style can be found in everyday conversation or literary works. One literary work that contains language style can be found in songs. The meaning in songs can be analyzed using various approaches, one of which is using semantic analysis that connects denotative meaning and connotative meaning. This study aims to describe and explain the denotative and connotative meanings of the lyrics of the song Wirang by Denny Caknan. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The data in this study are the lyrics of the song Wirang by Denny Caknan, which contain denotative and connotative meanings. The data source for this study is YouTube. The data required for this study are the lyrics of the song “Wirang” by Denny Caknan. The researcher serves as the key instrument. The data collection technique used is observation and listening to the song “Wirang.” The results of this study indicate that the song “Wirang” has 24 verses in its lyrics. There are 8 verses containing connotative meanings, and the verses that dominate are denotative. It is hoped that the findings of this study can be used as a learning resource, particularly in semantic learning, and for future researchers who will conduct research in the field of DNA studies on different objects in order to obtain more in-depth results.
