Abstract
The diversity of characters, interests, and academic abilities of students in class 7H of SMP Negeri 7 Madiun shows the need for an adaptive learning approach. The reality in the field shows that a uniform learning model is not yet fully capable of accommodating these differences, so the application of differentiated learning is needed. This study aims to describe the implementation of differentiated learning in Indonesian language subjects in that class. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data sources include Indonesian language teachers and students in class 7H at SMP Negeri 7 Madiun. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that teachers had implemented differentiated learning by adjusting methods, media, and tasks based on students' readiness, interests, and learning styles. Teachers conducted initial assessments, prepared varied teaching materials, and gave tasks tailored to students' ability levels. Challenges faced include time constraints in planning and implementation, as well as a lack of supporting resources. Despite this, students demonstrated positive responses to more personalized and varied learning. Differentiated instruction has proven to enhance student participation and understanding. This study recommends the need for teacher training and institutional support to ensure this strategy can be implemented more effectively and sustainably.
