Abstract

Subjective well-being is an important indicator in assessing an individual's quality of life, particularly during adolescence, a transitional phase full of challenges physiologically, socially, and emotionally. Sibling rivalry, as an external factor, has the potential to reduce subjective well-being through emotional conflict in sibling relationships. Conversely, self-esteem, as an internal factor, plays a role in strengthening adolescents' psychological resilience in dealing with life's pressures. This study aims to determine the effect of sibling rivalry and self-esteem on subjective well-being in 10th-grade Accounting students at SMK Negeri 2 Jiwan in the academic year 2024/2025. Using an ex post facto quantitative approach, this study involved 63 respondents from a total population of 171 students, selected through cluster sampling using the Slovin formula. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire that had passed validity and reliability tests. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 25 using product-moment correlation and multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that (1) there is an influence of sibling rivalry on the subjective well-being of class X Accounting students 2024/2025, (2) there is an influence of self-esteem on the subjective well-being of class X Accounting students 2024/2025, (3) there is an influence of sibling rivalry and self-esteem on the subjective well-being of class X Accounting students 2024/2025.
