Abstract

This study aims to analyze 1) the form of illocutionary speech acts in the conversation of female students of Al-Mardliyyah Islamic boarding school in Madiun City 2) the function of illocutionary speech acts in the conversation of female students of Al-Mardliyyah Islamic boarding school in Madiun City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, the data sources used in this study are female students of Al-Mardliyyah Islamic boarding school in Madiun City, Ma'had complex, especially Ma'had 2 room. The instruments used are observation and data cards. The results of the study obtained are (1) The form of illocutionary speech acts in the conversation of female students of Al-Mardliyyah Islamic boarding school in Madiun City amounted to 140 data forms of illocutionary speech acts in the conversation of students of Al-Mardliyyah Islamic boarding school in Madiun City. The form of assertive speech found in this study amounted to 58 data, the data were divided into 30 data of informing speech, 20 data of complaining speech, and 8 data of reporting speech. The directive speech forms found in this study amounted to 29 data, the data consisted of 13 requesting speeches, 10 commanding speeches, and 6 suggesting speeches. The expressive speech forms found in this study amounted to 35 data, the data consisted of 10 thanking speeches, 7 apologizing speeches, 5 congratulating speeches, 6 blaming speeches, and 7 praising speeches. The commissive speech forms found in this study amounted to 14 data, the data consisted of 9 promising speeches, and 5 offering speeches. The declarative speech forms found in this study amounted to 4 data, the data consisted of 3 punishing speeches and 1 ostracizing speech. (2) The function of illocutionary speech acts in the conversation of female students at the Al-Mardliyyah Islamic boarding school in Madiun City amounted to 114 data which were included in the function of illocutionary speech acts in the conversation of female students at the Al-Mardliyyah Islamic boarding school in Madiun City. The competitive speech function found in the study amounted to 26 data, the data were divided into 15 data of commanding speeches, and 11 data of requesting speeches. The convivial speech function found in the study amounted to 46 data, the data were divided into 14 data of offering speeches, 11 data of thanking speeches, 5 data of apologizing speeches, 4 data of praising speeches, 5 data of promising speeches, and 7 data of congratulating speeches. The collaborative speech function found in the study amounted to 25 data, the data were divided into 13 data of stating speeches, 7 data of announcing speeches, and 5 data of reporting speeches. The conflictive speech functions found in the study amounted to 17 data, the data were divided into blaming speech (6 data), scolding speech (5 data), and punishment speech (6 data).
