Abstract

The inheritance of values is a process whereby principles, beliefs, norms, attitudes, and morals that are considered important by society are continuously passed down to the next generation. The modern era poses challenges for the Wonomulyo community in inheriting traditional values. This study aims to: 1) identify the values contained in the Wuku Galungan tradition in Wonomulyo Village, 2) describe the impact of information and communication technology development on the Wuku Galungan tradition in Wonomulyo Village, 3) examine the role of family education in the transmission of traditional values of Wuku Galungan in Wonomulyo Village. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with non-participatory observation. Data was obtained from observations, interviews, and documentary studies. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources. Research results: 1) religious values in the form of gratitude to God, tolerance among religious communities, mutual cooperation, togetherness, and respect for ancestors; 2) positive impacts as a medium for education, promotion, and improvement of the local economy. Negative impacts include the appropriation of traditions by others and the shifting of cultural values; 3) introducing the Wuku Galungan tradition to children from an early age, habituating the Wuku Galungan tradition, and enculturation. The transmission of Wuku Galungan traditional values is influenced by many factors, such as globalization, which has both positive and negative impacts on the transmission of the Wuku Galungan tradition. Globalization has an influence on the younger generation, causing them to prefer foreign cultures. However, it can also be utilized as a medium to introduce the tradition to many people outside the community.
