Abstract
ABSTRACT Anas Kurniawan Saputra. 2025. Design and Construction of a Refrigerator Trainer as a Learning Medium for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Courses to Enhance Student Learning Activities. Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (1) Ir. Sulistyaning Kartikawati, M.M., M.Pd. (2) Dr. Nurulita Imansari, M.Pd. This study aims to determine the design and construction of a Refrigerator Trainer as a learning medium for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning courses, as well as to determine student responses to the application of the Refrigerator Trainer in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning course at the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, UNIPMA. The design and construction of a refrigerator trainer as a learning medium for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning courses to enhance student learning activities. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The trainer design and construction process includes system design, component selection, assembly, and equipment performance testing. The effectiveness of the media was evaluated through observations of student learning activities before and after using the trainer, as well as assessment questionnaires from lecturers and students. The results showed that the designed refrigerator trainer effectively simulated the working principles of a refrigeration system. The use of this trainer in the learning process significantly enhanced student learning, as evidenced by increased participation, increased understanding of the material, and improved learning evaluation results. Therefore, the refrigerator trainer is an effective learning medium for practical work to support competency achievement in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning course.
