Abstract

Spatial ability is crucial for understanding geometric concepts, particularly the topic of flat-sided solids, because it allows students to visualize and manipulate objects in space. This study aims to produce Geometry with Augmented Reality (Go-AR) learning media to develop the spatial abilities of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 06 Madiun City on the topic of flat-sided solids. The type of research used is research and development using the Plomp model, which includes four stages: (1) initial investigation, (2) design, (3) realization/construction, and (4) testing, evaluation, and revision. The research instruments consisted of interview guidelines, a learning media validation sheet by subject matter and media experts, a student response questionnaire, a teacher response questionnaire, and spatial ability questions. Data collection techniques in this study included interviews, questionnaires, and a spatial ability test. The research subjects were 30 eighth-grade students of SMPN 06 Kota Madiun in the 2024/2025 academic year. The results showed that the Go-AR learning media met the validity criteria, categorized as very valid, based on an average validation score of 84% from subject matter and media experts. The media's practicality was deemed very practical, with an average teacher response of 90% and a student response in the field trial of 81%. The effectiveness of the Go-AR learning media was demonstrated by the N-Gain value, which was categorized as quite effective at 70%. Thus, the Geometry with Augmented Reality (Go-AR) learning media was declared valid, practical, and effective in supporting the learning of flat-sided geometric shapes and developing students' spatial abilities.
