Abstract

Adaptation is the process of transferring a literary work, such as a novel, into a film. In this process, changes occur from the novel to the film. This study aims to analyze the condensation, addition, and varied changes in the film Sepatu Dahlan. The study focuses solely on the plot or story in the novel and film Sepatu Dahlan. This is a descriptive qualitative research study. The research technique used involves reading, observing, and noting. This involves carefully reading the novel and then comparing it with the film, which has been watched multiple times. This study successfully identified 40 instances of narrative transformation in total. These data are divided into 3 instances of abridgment, 19 instances of addition, and 18 instances of varied changes, indicating the complexity of the adaptation from novel to film medium.
