Abstract

Automatic clothesline is one of the innovations in the smart home system designed to make it easier for users to dry clothes, especially when the weather is uncertain. However, many people still dry clothes manually without automatic control over weather conditions, so that the clothes that are dried are at risk of not drying completely. This problem is not in line with technological developments in the modern era, especially in the application of the Internet of Things (IoT). Therefore, a smart home system was created in the form of an automatic clothesline control based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using the ESP32 microcontroller which can control and monitor the condition of the clothesline in real-time. This system was developed using the prototype method, while the modeling and design of the system were based on the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The ESP32 microcontroller acts as the main control center connected to the rain sensor and the LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) sensor to detect weather conditions. The data from the readings of the two sensors is used as a parameter to drive the servo motor to pull or remove the clothesline automatically. If the light resistance value is above 500 which indicates dark conditions and the rain sensor gives a logic 1 which means rain is detected, then the system will automatically pull the clothesline in. In addition, this system is integrated with the BLYNK application which allows users to monitor weather conditions and set control modes manually or automatically via smartphone.
