Abstract
The independent curriculum aims to encourage teacher creativity and innovation in learning activities. The current digital era technological developments encourage increased teacher creativity inlearning. Biology material that has an abstract nature, one of which is the digestive system, so teachers must be creative in using learning media to visualize concrete learning. The learning media developed by researchers is a comic called DIGESTIVA (Digestive System by Activities) based on STEM. The objectives of this study were 1) to describe the development of STEM-based DIGESTIVA comics as learning media, 2) analyze the validity level of STEM-based DIGESTIVA comics, and 3) analyze the effectiveness level of STEM-based DIGESTIVA comics. Type This research is a Research and Development (RnD) study using the 4-D design model. The population of the effectiveness test was all of class XI SMAN 6 Madiun and the sample of this study was class XI E which amounted to 36 students. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of interviews, filling out validation sheets from material and media experts, and filling out questionnaires effectiveness by students. The result of this study is the development of the DIGESTIVA comic on the digestive system successfully implemented. DIGESTIVA comics contain 3 subchapters, namely the organs and functions of the digestive system, the mechanism of the digestive system, and disorders and abnormalities in the digestive system. The validation results from media experts stated that DIGESTIVA comic media obtained an average score of 81.6% with very valid criteria and could be used with moderate revisions. The results of the material expert validation stated that the DIGESTIVA comic media obtained an average score of 89.8% with very valid criteria and could be used with minor revisions. The results of the effectiveness questionnaire showed an average score of 72.7 with effective criteria.
