Abstract

This study aims to 1) describe the textual analysis of the lyrics in Bernadya's album Terlintas and 2) describe the contextual analysis of the lyrics in Bernadya's album Terlintas. The focus of this research is on written discourse in the form of song lyrics by examining textual aspects, namely grammatical and lexical, as well as contextual aspects that include social and cultural contexts. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with documentation techniques for data collection and content analysis for data processing. The data and data sources used are the lyrics of songs in Bernadya's Terlintas album. The results of this study indicate that Bernadya's Terlintas album applies grammatical, lexical, and contextual aspects in its song lyrics, with a total of 219 data points. In the grammatical aspect, the application was found in reference, substitution, elision, and collocation, where personal reference dominated with 76 data, particularly the use of the word ‘ku’ with 29 data. Alternative conjunctions were also the most dominant in the collocation aspect with 14 data out of 28 collocation data. The lexical aspect includes various types of repetition and synonymy, each with 11 data points, as well as antonymy (7 data points), collocation (9 data points), hyponymy (3 data points), and equivalence (2 data points). The contextual aspect contains more personal interpretation principles, with 76 data points, followed by temporal interpretation principles with 20 data points, locational interpretation principles with 5 data points, and analogy principles with 14 data points. These results highlight the complexity of language use in Bernadya's album Terlintas, where grammatical, lexical, and contextual aspects complement each other in shaping the textual and contextual meaning of the lyrics.
