Abstract

Toy merchants in Kedunggalar District, Ngawi Regency, exhibit various aspects that can be observed through several perspectives, including economic, social, and cultural factors. In addition, toy merchants in this sector also face various current phenomena, ranging from intense competition to changes in consumer preferences, income uncertainty, demand fluctuations, intense market competition, and the impact of uncertain economic conditions. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors and strategies implemented by toy merchants to survive and adapt in their business, as well as to analyze the role of technology and how mobile toy merchants face technological changes in helping adapt to changing market conditions. In addition, this study also aims to identify what efforts and innovations are used by toy merchants in maintaining business sustainability amidst competition, changing market trends, and in marketing and sales to increase competitiveness. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, and documentation. This study uses a qualitative research method. Data collection was conducted at the Kedunggalar District market. Research results indicate that there are factors influencing the sustainability of business, such as support from family, community, collaboration among fellow traders, as well as increasing innovation, creativity, and surveys, and maintaining good relationships between customers and suppliers, which are essential strategies in sustaining a business. Technological advancements have a positive impact, such as increasing consumer reach and profits, but also negative impacts for traders who have not adapted, caused by a lack of training and age factors. Toy merchants in Kedunggalar District, Ngawi Regency, create innovations to sustain their business through surveys and engaging in the field to explore opportunities that can provide profits in sales, while prioritizing customer service.
