Abstract

This study aims to improve the understanding of 20 students of phase B grade IV of SDN Sirapan 01 regarding the material of Indonesian unity through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by video media. This background is based on the low learning outcomes of students in the Pancasila Education subject, especially in understanding the principles of Indonesian unity. The results of observations indicate a lack of active involvement of students in the learning process and their low interest in the material being taught. This study is a classroom action research (CAR) carried out in two cycles, where each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The PBL model was chosen because it can encourage students to think critically through solving real problems, while video media is used to increase student interest and understanding through contextual visualization. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, as well as comprehension tests conducted at the end of each cycle. The results of the study indicate that the application of PBL supported by video media can significantly increase student engagement and their understanding of the material of Indonesian unity. The indicator of student success that must be achieved is the KKM 70 with a completion percentage of 75%. In cycle I, the average student score was 70 with a percentage of 60%, while in cycle II, the average student score increased to 80.75 with a completion percentage of 90%. Thus, the application of the PBL learning model supported by video media has proven effective as an effort to improve students' understanding of phase B in learning Pancasila Education, especially in the material on the principle of Indonesian unity.
