Abstract

Permasalahan karakter pada generasi muda saat ini menjadi isu serius yang berdampak pada kehidupan sosial, seperti meningkatnya kenakalan remaja, rendahnya kesadaran tanggung jawab, dan menurunnya kepedulian sosial. Fakta sosial yang terjadi saat ini, pencak silat khususnya PSHT kerap mendapat pandangan buruk akibat tindakan segelintir oknum. Padahal, PSHT memiliki potensi sebagai wadah pembinaan karakter generasi muda, terutama dalam membentuk nilai tanggung jawab dan empati melalui pendekatan budaya, spiritualitas, dan kegiatan sosial. Fakta tersebut mendorong untuk mengkaji apakah hal yang sama juga terjadi di lingkungan pencak silat PSHT Rayon Kincang Wetan, Kecamatan Jiwan, Kabupaten Madiun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran PSHT dalam pembentukan karakter tanggung jawab dan empati siswa di Rayon Kincang Wetan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data terdiri dari siswa PSHT tingkat putih, pelatih, orang tua, dan masyarakat sekitar. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan angket. Data dianalisis melalui tahapan mereduksi data, menyajikan data, dan penarikan kesimpulan dengan triangulasi teknik sebagai validasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PSHT berperan sebagai fasilitator, organisator, dan motivator dalam pembentukan karakter. Karakter tanggung jawab terlihat dari kedisiplinan, kepatuhan, dan komitmen siswa dalam menjalani latihan dan kegiatan sosial. Sementara karakter empati tampak melalui solidaritas antar siswa, kepekaan terhadap perasaan orang lain, serta partisipasi aktif dalam membantu sesama. Dengan demikian, PSHT mampu menjalankan fungsinya sebagai lembaga pembinaan karakter secara efektif, meskipun dihadapkan pada beberapa hambatan. Keberhasilan ini didukung oleh kerja sama antara organisasi, pelatih, siswa, orang tua, dan masyarakat. Character issues among today's youth are a serious problem that affects social life, such as increasing juvenile delinquency, low awareness of responsibility, and declining social awareness. The current social reality is that pencak silat, especially PSHT, often receives negative attention due to the actions of a few individuals. However, PSHT has the potential to serve as a platform for character development among the younger generation, particularly in fostering values of responsibility and empathy through cultural, spiritual, and social activities. This fact prompts an investigation into whether the same issues also exist within the PSHT Pencak Silat community in the Kincang Wetan district, Jiwan sub-district, Madiun regency. This study aims to determine the role of PSHT in shaping the character of responsibility and empathy among students in the Kincang Wetan District. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data sources include PSHT white-belt students, coaches, parents, and the local community. Data collection techniques include observation, semi-structured interviews, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with triangulation techniques as validation. The results of the study indicate that PSHT acts as a facilitator, organizer, and motivator in character development. The character trait of responsibility is evident in students' discipline, compliance, and commitment to training and social activities. Meanwhile, empathy is evident through solidarity among students, sensitivity to others' feelings, and active participation in helping others. Thus, PSHT effectively fulfills its role as a character-building institution, despite facing several challenges. This success is supported by collaboration between the organization, coaches, students, parents, and the community.
