Abstract
Mathematics plays a crucial role in everyday life. Elementary school mathematics provides a foundation for understanding mathematical concepts, which serve as an important foundation for higher-level mathematics instruction. Fractions, the foundation for learning arithmetic operations, are taught starting in grade II of elementary school, covering addition, subtraction, simplifying fractions, and problem-solving. Difficulty understanding fraction numeracy is a common problem for students, particularly elementary school students. Students struggle to grasp the concept of fractions, preventing them from correctly solving math problems. This also occurs at Jenangan 2 Public Elementary School, where several students, particularly in grade II, struggle to solve fraction numeracy problems. This study aims to describe students' difficulties in solving fraction numeracy problems and the factors that influence their difficulties in solving fraction numeracy problems. This study is a qualitative study with second-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Jenangan as the subjects. The research data sources are second-grade students as primary data, and journals as secondary data. Data collection techniques used by the researcher are interview guidelines, questionnaires, post-test questions, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The conclusion of this study is that students still experience difficulties in solving fraction numeracy problems, especially in understanding concepts, performing calculations, and applying fractions in problem solving. Related causal factors come from internal factors, such as attitudes, interests, learning motivation, and physical health of students. Meanwhile, external factors include learning media, school facilities, and family environment.
