Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the short story writing skills of 5th grade students of SDN Banjarsari 01 through the application of SI CERIA learning media with a Project Based Learning (PjBL) approach. The problem raised in this study is the low ability to write short stories of students caused by the limited interesting learning media and the lack of active involvement of students in the learning process. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which was conducted in two cycles, with 13 students as research subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, and assessment of short story writing results. The results of the study showed an increase in students' short story writing skills from the first cycle to the second cycle, which was indicated by an increase in the average score. The learning process became more interactive and encouraged students to think creatively in composing stories. Thus, the application of SI CERIA learning media was proven to significantly improve the short story writing skills of elementary school students.
