Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model combined with Kahoot media on the conceptual understanding of mathematics among fourth-grade elementary school students. The background of this research is based on the low level of students’ conceptual understanding, particularly in the topic of plane figures, which is caused by the limited variety of learning models and the lack of engaging and interactive media used in instruction. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class that used the RADEC learning model assisted by Kahoot media, and the control class that used a cooperative learning model assisted by PowerPoint media. Data collection was conducted through a post-test on students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics, which had been validated by subject matter experts. The data were analyzed using tests for validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing through an independent sample t-test. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significant difference in the average post-test scores between the experimental and control classes, with a significance value of 0,000 < 0.05. This indicates that the RADEC learning model assisted by Kahoot media is effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics. The model promotes student engagement, collaboration, and creativity, while creating a fun and competitive learning environment. Based on these findings, the RADEC model assisted by Kahoot media is considered a viable alternative for innovative learning strategies in elementary school.
