Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by Smart Box media on the learning achievement of fourth-grade students in SDN Bagi. The background of this study is the low learning outcomes of students in the subject of science as seen from observations and interviews as well as student test scores that are still below the Minimum Competency (KKM). Smart Box media was developed as an innovative solution that combines educational games with science materials to increase student interest and understanding. This study used a quantitative experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The study population was 37 fourth-grade students in SDN Bagi 02 and 03, and they were selected as samples using a saturated sampling technique. Data collection techniques included achievement tests, affective and psychomotor observation sheets, as well as validity, reliability, homogeneity, normality, and hypothesis testing through independent sample t-tests. The results showed that the use of the TGT model accompanied by Smart Box media significantly improved learning achievement in science with an average post-test score of 82.47 for the experimental class and 74.11 for the control class. Therefore, the TGT model and Smart Box media were successful when implemented in science learning at the elementary school level.
