Abstract

This research aims to improve students' critical thinking skills by applying the use of crossword puzzle LKPD. The subjects of this research are fifth-grade students from SDN 02 Tawangrejo, consisting of 13 students. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of 3 stages: planning, implementation, and results. Data collection techniques use documentation, observation, and tests. The instruments include teaching modules, observation sheets, and test questions. Data analysis techniques utilize both qualitative and quantitative data. The results of the study show that the application of crossword puzzle LKPD in each cycle leads to an improvement in critical thinking skills in the IPAS learning of fifth-grade students at SDN 02 Tawangrejo. This can be observed in the implementation stage, based on the results of teacher observations in cycle I, where the teacher was already optimal in carrying out the learning process and improved even better in cycle II, which was very satisfactory. Looking at the results of observing students' critical thinking skills, there was also an increase in cycle II. Furthermore, based on the evaluation results of students' critical thinking skills, in cycle I, the average evaluation score for critical thinking skills was 77.92 with a completeness percentage of 53.84%. In cycle II, there was a significant improvement, with the average evaluation score for students' critical thinking skills being 88, and all students achieved complete scores, resulting in a completeness percentage of 100%. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the use of LKPD crossword puzzles can enhance the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students at SDN 02 Tawangrejo.
