Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ability to write descriptive texts in grade V students of SDN Kedungrejo 03. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method. The subjects of the study were 8 grade V students of SDN Kedungrejo 03. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the majority of students have quite good abilities in writing descriptive texts. However, there are some notes, in terms of language, significant variations were found in the use of punctuation, with the majority still facing challenges in applying the rules consistently and correctly. The use of capital letters is also not optimal, often related to inaccurate punctuation. However, the majority of respondents were able to write sentences with adequate structures, although the order was often inconsistent. The integration between sentences was generally quite good, although some students still had difficulty in creating smooth transitions. In terms of the content of the writing, all students showed good abilities in choosing appropriate titles. Most were also able to write explanatory sentences that matched the pictures, although sometimes there were subjective interpretations. However, the ability to provide details still varied, with some shortcomings in the specification of details. Overall, the descriptive text writing skills of grade V students at SDN Kedungrejo 03 are quite good, but still need to be improved in terms of language, especially the use of punctuation and capital letters, as well as detailed specifications in the description.
