Abstract

This research is motivated by the low problem-solving skills that children must master nowadays. Therefore, a study was conducted that measures students' problem-solving skills using the PBL model. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by flashcard media on the problem-solving skills of fifth-grade science students at SDN 01 Manisrejo. This research method uses a quantitative research type with the Quasi Experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sampling technique used random sampling. The population in this study was 56 fifth-grade students at SDN 01 Manisrejo, Madiun City. The sample used was class VA students as the control class and class VB students as the experimental class, with 28 students in each class. Data were obtained from the results of the post-test scores, after the data were collected, the data were tested for normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis. In this study, the test results showed a sig. of 0.000. The results showed that the experimental class using PBL assisted by flashcard media got better scores compared to the control class. Thus, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This means that the Problem Based Learning learning model is effective for use in learning, especially in improving students' problem-solving abilities at SDN 01 Manisrejo.
