Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Science Technology and Society (STS) learning model on students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) abilities in fifth-grade science learning at Dolopo 01 Public Elementary School. The study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of two groups: an experimental class treated with the STS model and a control class with the PBL model, each consisting of 19 students. The research instrument was a multiple-choice posttest that measured HOTS abilities. The analysis results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 83.78, while the control class was 74.94. The independent sample t-test produced a significance value <0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Thus, the STS model has proven effective in improving students' HOTS abilities. It is recommended that teachers implement the STS model to improve the quality of science learning and equip students with critical thinking skills in facing the challenges of the 21st century.
