Abstract
Advances in Internet of Things (IoT) technology offer opportunities to improve the effectiveness of freshwater fish farming management through a monitoring system capable of providing real-time information on pond conditions. This study aims to develop a learning medium in the form of a Smart Fish Pond based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and to determine the level of feasibility and user response to the developed product. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The product was developed using an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with a DS18B20 sensor to measure water temperature, a PH-4502C sensor to measure pH, an MQ-137 sensor to detect ammonia levels, a SEN-0175 turbidity sensor to measure water turbidity, and an XKC-Y25 water level sensor to detect water level. Sensor reading data is transmitted via a Wi-Fi network to an InfluxDB database and visualized in real-time using Grafana. The system is also equipped with a relay to automatically control the drain pump and water fill pump when water quality parameters fall outside predetermined limits. Validation results show that the product was rated as “highly suitable” based on evaluations by media and materials experts. User testing results also showed a 92% suitability rating in the “highly suitable” category, comprising 92% for usability, 93% for functionality and performance, and 92% for benefits. These results demonstrate that the IoT-based Smart Fish Pond is capable of real-time water quality monitoring, effectively providing information on pond conditions, and helping to make fish pond management more effective and efficient.
