Abstract

Tulus' "Manusia" album is one example of a musical work that is rich in the use of metaphors in its lyrics. In Tulus' "Manusia" album, metaphors are used extensively to describe themes such as love, loss, and self-awareness. In this context, semantics plays an important role in understanding how the meanings associated with these metaphors. Therefore, this study aims to analyze how semantics are used in metaphors on Tulus' "Manusia" album, as well as how the meanings associated with these metaphors affect the meaning of the text as a whole. Tulus, as a songwriter and singer, is known for his poetic and meaningful lyrics. "Manusia" album. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique was simak catat and library technique. The research results obtained from this study include 1) There are 3 types of metaphor, namely structural metaphor, orientational metaphor, ontology. There are 20 types of structural metaphors, 1 orientational metaphor, 14 ontological metaphors. 2) There are 5 metaphor meanings, namely connotative meaning, stylistic meaning, affective meaning, reflective meaning, and collocative meaning. There are 8 connotative meanings, 10 stylistic meanings, 9 affective meanings, 8 reflective meanings, and 10 collocative meanings.
