Abstract

Indonesia is classified as a tropical country with the potential for high intensity weather. One way to protect the skin against sunlight is with sunscreen. The use of plants that contain antioxidants as a beauty product is now starting to develop, because the back to nature trend means that the cosmetics industry is now herbal-based. The research method used is True Experimental Design with a posttest only control design type of research by making a comparison between the two groups, namely the control and experimental groups. With this, the researcher aims to develop a sunscreen cream preparation formula for ethanol extract of beluntas leaves as an active ingredient with different concentrations, namely 5%, 10% and 15%. Based on the research, the results showed that Formula 1 has characteristics that meet the standards compared to F0, F2 and F3. Based on the test for determining the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value, the maximum category was obtained in Formula 3 with an SPF value of 9.3959856.
