Abstract
ABSTRACT Ali Rosyid Prakasa Alam. 2024. Design and Construction of LPG Gas Leak Monitoring Prototype with MQ-2 and MQ-6 sensors based on Wemos D1R1. Thesis. Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors (I) Ihtiari Prastyaningrum, S.Si., M.Si., (II) Denny Hardiyanto, S.T., M.Eng. LPG gas is a flammable gas with a fairly high explosive power, so that if there is a leak in the LPG cylinder it can cause a fire. Utilization of LPG gas as fuel for kitchen equipment, including gas stoves. Therefore, an LPG gas leak detector is needed for safety and security in the home. It is necessary to design a tool that is able to detect gas leaks in order to prevent the risk of fire at a location due to gas leaks. This tool uses MQ-2 and MQ-6 sensors. If a gas leak occurs, the MQ-2 and MQ-6 sensors will provide a hazard notification via Blynk and the servo motor will work or rotate. This tool uses the Wemos D1 R1 Microcontroller as its controller. The tool that has been made works automatically, if a gas leak occurs, the MQ-2 and MQ-6 sensors will detect it and the Microcontroller will process the data and then display the ppm value of the LPG gas leak on Blynk. If the ppm value of the leaked gas exceeds 120 ppm as specified, the buzzer will sound to provide a warning sign, and the ppm value will appear in the Blynk Apk sending the ppm value to the user. The test was carried out 12 times with the distance between the detector and the object varied with the position of the detector placed above, sideways and parallel. The position of the LPG gas leak detector and the object greatly affects the operating system of the MQ-2 and MQ-6 sensors because the longer the gas leak occurs, the higher the ppm value read. When tested with a time starting from 0 to 5 seconds, 0 to 60 seconds and the position of the gas leak detector above the gas cylinder regulator, the highest value was 401 ppm. In the tool validation assessment, the results were 81.67, which stated that the tool was very appropriate for the objectives and hypotheses that had been formulated.
