Abstract

The aims of this research are to (1) Identify the conditions of Indonesian language learning in class 6 of SDN 1 Dinden, (2) Identify relevant local cultural values to be integrated in Indonesian language learning, (3) Develop strategies for integrating local cultural values in Indonesian language learning in class 6 at SDN 1 Dinden, (4) Analyzing the impact of integrating local cultural values on student interest and learning achievement. The research approach used is a qualitative approach with a case study method. This approach was chosen because it was in accordance with the research objectives which wanted to explore in depth the integration of local cultural values in Indonesian language learning. This research was carried out in grade 6 at SDN 1 Dinden, Kwadungan District, Ngawi Regency with a total of 11 grade 6 students. This research was carried out from July-November 2024. The research results are as follows; (1) Conditions of Indonesian Language Learning in Class 6 of SDN 1 Dinden. Indonesian language learning in grade 6 at SDN 1 Dinden faces the challenge of teaching methods that are still conventional and do not utilize local culture. This non-contextual method has an impact on low student interest, participation in discussions, and enthusiasm for learning. Teachers also have difficulty integrating local cultural values due to a lack of training and resources. Some teachers have taken the initiative to use local folklore to increase students' interest and understanding, which has proven effective in improving academic achievement. (2) Local cultural values that can be integrated. Ngawi Regency has a rich cultural heritage, such as traditional Reog art and folklore "The Legend of Mount Lawu" and "The Origin of Ngawi City", which can be used as learning tools. This integration not only enriches the learning experience but also strengthens students' cultural identity. Traditions such as the slametan also offer learning opportunities about the importance of respecting and preserving ancestral traditions. This integration of local culture is useful for preserving valuable traditions and values for future generations, as well as creating a more inclusive and harmonious society. (3) Strategy for Integration of Local Cultural Values. This strategy includes developing local culture-based teaching materials through collaboration with community leaders and artists, professional training for teachers, and integration of extracurricular activities. Teaching materials can include folklore and visual media depicting local life. Teacher training includes innovative teaching techniques and the use of technology to support learning. Extracurricular activities such as arts performances and collaborative projects with local communities can increase student participation and motivation. (4) Impact of Integration of Local Cultural Values. The integration of local cultural values in Indonesian language learning increases student interest and achievement, the relevance of the material to everyday life, and the development of critical thinking skills and creativity. Students feel more connected and motivated when the material is relevant to their lives, which increases understanding and retention of the material. Apart from that, integration of local culture also increases students' sense of self-confidence and identity, as well as participation and satisfaction in learning.
