Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of acquisition decisions and stock returns on profitability in property and real estate sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2019-2023. The acquisition decision is calculated using the return momentum seen from the share price of each company, the share return is calculated using the difference between the selling price and the purchase price of the shares, while profitability is calculated using Return On Asset (ROA). This study uses a quantitative method with a sample of 16 property and real estate companies that made acquisitions during the period. The data was analyzed using Test F (simultaneous) and Test t (partial) tests to answer existing hypotheses. The results of the study show that partially, the acquisition decision does not have a significant influence on profitability. Partially, stock returns have a significant influence on profitability. Acquisition decisions and stock returns together have a significant influence on profitability. The results of the study also show that the decision to acquire shares and return shares together have a significant influence on profitability.
