Abstract

Students need teaching materials that can facilitate them to have essential skills. One of the materials that can be raised as teaching materials in applied biology courses that can improve students' practical skills is by developing a practical module based on laboratory experimental research that utilizes local plants in the form of genitri leaves (Elaeocarpus ganitrus) which have the potential as antibacterials. The content of the applied biology practical module comes from the results of the description of the phytochemical screening test of thin-layer chromatography of genitri leaves. The method used in this development is done with 4D (define, design, development and disseminate). The results of the validation assessment of the development of the applied biology practicum module by material experts who have expertise in their fields obtained a percentage value of 80.6%, if converted, the applied biology practicum module developed is included in the category of being suitable for use, but must go through minor revisions so that the product becomes perfect Keywords: practicum module, laboratory experiments, phytochemical screening
