Abstract

The number of universities is increasing in Indonesia causing a decrease in the number of students in majors certain areas, such as the UNIPMA accounting education department. This research aims to find out whether parental support, self-efficacy, and educational costs influence student decision making in choosing UNIPMA accounting education with job prospects as a moderating variable. This research also aims to review the process decision making and Theory of Planned Behavior towards decision making students' decisions in choosing the UNIPMA accounting education study program. On This research uses a quantitative approach method. Population in In this research, there were 94 UNIPMA accounting education students in academic 2020-2024. The sampling technique used is sample fed up. Data collection techniques using questionnaires or questionnaires, and data analysis techniques using the Moderated Regression Analysis method (MRA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using assistance SmartPLS software 4. The results of this study show that self-efficacy and education costs have a positive effect on decision making students in choosing a major, while parental support is not has a significant effect on student decision making. Job prospects do not play a role in the variables that moderate the relationship between parental support, self-efficacy for student decision making, and Lastly, job prospects act as a moderating variable weakening the relationship between education costs and take-up student's decision to choose the UNIPMA accounting education major.
