Keywords: Short Story Writing Skills, Sugestopedia Method, Song Media This study was motivated by the problem of the low level of short story writing skills of students of grade XI SMAN 1 Geger Madiun Regency. Students in grade XI of SMAN 1 Geger generally have difficulty in generating and developing ideas into writing. Seeing this fact, the author was moved to conduct research on learning to write short stories in class XI of SMAN 1 Geger. One of the efforts that the researcher made to improve the short story writing skills of students of grade XI SMAN 1 Geger Madiun Regency, namely by using the suggestopedia method and song media. The objectives of this study are to (1) describe the improvement of short story writing skills with the application of the suggestopedia method and song media in class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Geger, Madiun Regency, (2) describe the increase in activity of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Geger when participating in learning to write short stories with the suggestopedia method and song media. The type of research used in this study is Classroom Action Research which is carried out in two stages, namely the first cycle stage and the second cycle stage. Data collection techniques used test and non-test techniques. The test technique is in the form of short story writing skill test results and for non-test techniques in the form of student activity data from observation results, checklists, interviews, and photo documentation. This study used qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. Both techniques were analysed by comparing the test results of cycle I and cycle II. The results showed that the application of the suggestopedia method and song media was able to improve the short story writing skills of students of class XI SMAN 1 Geger Madiun Regency. This improvement can be seen from the results of the final test of cycle I and the final test of cycle II. The results of the final test of cycle I showed that the average score achieved by students of class XI.3 was 69.3 or included in the sufficient category. While in cycle II the average score achieved was 79.4 and included in the good category. This means that there was an increase from cycle I to cycle II by 10.1 points or 14.6%. The results of the study also showed that the activities of students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Geger Madiun Regency in participating in the learning process of writing short stories with the suggestopedia method and song media had increased in a positive direction. After applying the suggestopedia method and song media, students were active in the learning process from the beginning to the reflection. Students are more excited, enthusiastic, and earnest when participating in learning to write short stories.
